Description:  A medium-sized deciduous tree of the pea family that is native to humid lowland forested regions of India and Sri Lanka is known by the common names flame-of-the-forest or bastard teak. The odourless blossoms, which are massed towards the ends of the stalks and are a rich, contrasting green colour similar to the cup-shaped calices, perfectly highlight the stiff, vivid flowers. Each flower has five petals: one standard, two smaller wings, and a slightly bent keel that resembles a beak.
