Flowers are in demand for festivals like Vishu in Kerala. One of the few indigenous trees that were planted as avenue trees.Hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-tussive, antifungal, etc. characteristics have been documented for it. As an antimicrobial, it is also used to monitor the healing of wounds. Moreover, it controls the body’s hormonal abnormalities. The sweet blackish pulp of the ripened pod is used as a mild laxative to cure constipation.
