Description: In ideal conditions, the Tectona grandis grows to a height of over 30 metres, is primarily deciduous, and has an open crown with numerous tiny branches. When first cut, the heartwood is frequently drab and yellowish; over time, it turns golden brown. The wood is a medium-weight, relatively soft timber that is both durable and extremely durable. By combining powdered wood with hot water, wood tar paste can be created. It is vermifuge, aids in digestion, relieves bilious headaches and toothaches, and lessens skin eruptions or inflammations. The tallest trees can be seen in Malappuram, Kerala’s Nilambure. Teak wood from Nilambur is being utilised by Rolls-Royce, the iconic British automaker, to create veneers for the interiors of the Ghost and Phantom models.
